Anil Varshney

Senior Vice President - Reliance Group,

Anil Kumar Varshney (AKV) is currently Senior Vice President at Reliance Group, New Delhi & joined Reliance Energy in June 2004 and has since been with Reliance Infrastructure Ltd & BSES Delhi DISCOM wherein he has been involved in developing the Power Distribution Network in South, SW & West Delhi being responsible for planning, land acquisition & development of Power Distribution Infrastructure to establish several 66/33 KV level Electric Grid Stations in VasantKunj, Dwarka, Akshardham, Jasola, Meethapur, Mundka etc. for uninterrupted Power Supply which has transformed the power scenario in Delhi. AKV has worked closely with Government of Delhi and Development Agencies like DDA, SDMC, DJB & Key Consumers of BSES Delhi for developing Delhi’s Power Infrastructure. AKV was also instrumental in developing E-Vehicle charging Infra in BSES Delhi during Commonwealth Games in 2010 and LED initiative under its DSM program. AKV has been on various committees on Infrastructure & Smart Cities of Industry Associations at CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM & PhD Chamber. AKV has been a speaker at various Industry Forums & Conferences and has actively led the cause of DISCOMS to resolve issues relating to development of power Infrastructure in Delhi.

Formerly as Senior Executive with Larsen & Toubro Ltd. during June 1983 ~ March 2000 he worked extensively to develop L&T’s Electronics plant Infra from initial stage to manufacture at L&T Mysore works hi-tech Computer Peripherals, Telecom Equipments, Medical equipments, Test & Measuring Instruments & PLC’s. AKV’s contribution has been acknowledged in establishing L&T’s Infra for Software development for Exports and introduced SAP in India & bringing in IBM mainframe Infra at L&T Powai for developing software capabilities at L&T Powai now better know as L&T Infotech Ltd. Subsequently In Jan. 1997, AKV was brought by the management to head the Corporate Affairs in L&T Cement Group then 15 MMT capacity with Awarpur, Hirmi, Tadpatri & Kovaya Cement plants during 1997-2000. AKV also led TQM movement as a facilitator & Leader in L&T.

During April 2000 ~ May 2004 as A.General Manager Corporate Affairs, AKV worked with Indo-Rama Synthetics (India) Ltd and led the PSF expansion project for doubling Indo- Rama’s capacity at Butibori Plant, Nagpur and was involved in handling their Anti-Dumping initiatives & also led on behalf of the Industry thru ASFI.

AKV is an Alumni of St. Xavier’s, Ahmedabad, Hindu College, Delhi University & has done MBA (Business Economics) and Law from Delhi University. He is also an alumni of Indian Law Institute & Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).

AKV also espouses the cause of the Deaf under the Delhi Association of the Deaf (DAD) where he helped set up the DAD HQ in Qutub Instutional Area, Delhi and actively supports for Welfare of the Deaf community in Delhi.
